This year, the HF Competence Center hosted the HF Competence Days. This event attracted more than 40 participants from various RF technology companies to expand their expertise and exchange information on the latest developments in the industry.
Day 1 of the HF Competence Days 2023
The first day of the Competence Days started with a presentation by Ingo Semrau from PROCOM. His presentation focused on the topic of mobile data transmission and the effects on antenna technology. Ingo Semrau provided the participants with in-depth insights into the technical aspects of antenna technology and explained the challenges arising from the increasing use of mobile data. Current trends and future developments were also discussed.
During the rest of the first day, the participants were provided with exciting insights into the topic of fixed station antenna technology. PROCOM developers from Denmark were on hand to share their expertise and experience with the participants. It was an opportunity to learn from experts in the field and gain valuable insights into the latest technological advances.
During the breaks, the participants were provided with burgers, chips and drinks while they discussed various topics.
In addition, Christian Semrau from PRO-TECS supplemented the presentations with practical application examples. One particularly interesting topic was the measurement of antenna radiation. With the help of a special exhibition set-up, the participants were able to visualize the radiation characteristics of different antenna types in the room and record the measurement results. In addition, a brief insight was given into the field of TETRA BOS object radio measurements, with the focus on vector error images in the IQ diagram and DTF measurements.
The end of the first day was a special highlight – a joint boat trip on the Flensburg Fjord. During this relaxed and pleasant boat trip, the participants were not only able to enjoy the beautiful fjord, but also round off the day with a delicious evening buffet and refreshing drinks.
Day 2 of the HF Competence Days 2023
The second day of the Competence Days began with another presentation. This time, the focus was on passive intermodulation (PIM) in PMR, DMR and TETRA radio networks. Participants were given detailed insights into the causes and effects of PIM as well as methods for measuring and preventing this phenomenon. Together with the participants, practical measurements were carried out on RF cables and filter components using a 2-port PIM analyzer for TETRA. This enabled the participants to visualize the theoretical concepts.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of a pioneering duplex filter technology that points the way to the future of the expanded TETRA BOS network. The participants were given an exclusive insight into this technology and were able to get an idea of its performance capabilities.
At the end of the event, each participant received a packed lunch for the journey home and a USB stick with the most important information from the event. This enabled the participants to deepen the knowledge they had acquired and continue to benefit from it after the event.
The RF Competence Days in June 2023 were an outstanding event that provided participants with a unique opportunity to expand their knowledge, share the latest trends and developments in RF technology and gain valuable insights from experts in the field.
